That's not even counting the new monsters that were added that became main-stays of the series like Pancho, Ogyo, and Zan. Also there's what the game's setting does to the lore which is surprisingly incredibly interesting if you decide to read through it and pick up breadcrumbs you find in encyclopedia entries, with one of the most imaginative and magical-feeling worlds I've ever seen in a video game. The different style allows the monsters to be so much more expressive than they ever have been, and the way you interact with them is a lot deeper than the other games (which usually tend to boil down to yes/no questions or just deciding how to feed them and that's it). People are gonna hate me for this, but 3 is and always will be my favorite. Which installment was your favorite? Were there features of the game the others didn't have that or monsters that you preferred in that iteration? I want suggestions for which game to buy next! I have a backwards compatible PS3 so I'll be looking to purchase a copy of one of the other games online as long as I can find it for a reasonable price. After I obtain a Zan and beat the "greatest monster" I'll probably be inclined to move onto one of the other games in the series. Monster Rancher 3 was definitely my most played as a kid, I know we owned Monster Rancher 2 but I never played any of the games after 3. While I was searching for a new monster I discovered one of my DVDs produces a Zan, which was exciting however I haven't completed the quest yet so that's my next goal.

Honestly I've had such a blast! I finally got 5 wins against the Big 5 but after the last one my monster died before I could get to the final match.

I always had so much fun with the game growing up and I still have a decent collection of DVDs for the authentic PS2 experience. I haven't felt like playing any current gen games recently so I was going through my old library of games and decided to pick up Monster Rancher 3.
